The SOAR fifth grade class of 2019 created this wall of plaster petrie dishes in collaboration with artist Nicole Banowetz. Nicole inspired the studentsby showing them microscopic imagery from nature. Together the students looked at bacteria, viruses, pollen, fungi, micro-animals and algae. They used this imagery to design their very own specimen. First they created drawings and information sheets about their unique microscopic combinations. The students then sculpted forms in clay and poured plaster over them to create their final artwork.
